Why WkD exists
I've seen for myself that many traditional German courses focus heavily on textbooks, grammar and exams. Many learners end up with a certificate, but still can't speak with confidence in real life and struggle to understand natural German.
That's why I wanted to develop a method that makes language easier to understand and more natural, with a stronger focus on real communication.

Study specifically for your exam
We prepare you specifically for the telc, Goethe and g.a.s.t. exams. You learn the exam structure, the different task types and important exam techniques.

Exam preparation comprises 15 teaching units (UE) of 45 minutes each, for B1, B2 and C1 alike and regardless of whether the course runs on weekdays or at the weekend. You get your own materials with exercises, tests and exam techniques. At the end, you do a complete mock exam, so that you know the exam situation beforehand. If you need more practice after that, further teaching units are possible. They are charged separately.
Important: WkD does not conduct official exams and does not issue official certificates. After the course, you receive a certificate of attendance.

Our own learning books
We do not teach with other people’s textbooks, we teach with our own. We wrote them ourselves. Two of them are course books for adults and have been published on Amazon.
The first volumes are deliberately bilingual German–English, so the start isn't overwhelming. The later volumes are German in German, explained in detail but in natural language. They're available digitally as a PDF and in print.

Frequently asked questions
Are these live lessons, or videos you just watch?
It's 100% live lessons. At the agreed time, you're online together with your teacher, you talk to each other, and you get your corrections directly. At WkD, there's no recorded course that you work through on your own.
Between lessons, you can keep practicing with online exercises and AI tasks, if you want to. The lessons themselves always stay live and personal.
I'm a beginner. How am I supposed to understand German in German?
Don't worry. We work with pictures, examples, stories, videos and real situations. This way, you learn step by step to understand German directly in German.
Do I have to do a lot of homework every day for the course?
No. At WkD there is no unnecessary homework. We only give you exercises that move you forward noticeably, and we make sure they fit into your day. Most of our participants work or study alongside the course and have little time. The real work happens in class anyway.
At WkD, do I only learn German, or German for real life too?
Both. You learn German through real-life situations in Germany. For example apartment hunting, work, job applications, phone calls, dealing with authorities and everyday life.
Is WkD right for my goal too?
Yes. Our courses are aimed especially at people who want to do vocational training, study or work in Germany.
What's different about WkD compared to a regular language school?
We don't just want you to know grammar and exam tasks. You should be able to understand German and use it confidently in real life.

Do I need an official certificate?
If you need an official certificate, we'll prepare you for telc, Goethe or g.a.s.t. You take the official exam at a recognized exam center.
